On August 9, 2007, when he turns 61, Larry Johnson, co-owner of KEY OF SEE STORYTELLERS and EL ENTERPRISES, will take a 61-mile hike. The deliberate walk will raise awareness for: 1) better health care for all ages; 2) healthy uses of transit; and, 3) bipartisan, genuine total support for veterans and currently deployed soldiers and families. This adventure will also raise money for two important BRIDGES needing about $61,000 to take daily traffic. One is OPERATION AMERICA CARES, a non-profit working to create daily accessibility for soldiers and families to visit via live video bridge between here and Iraq. (Johnson was drafted in 1970, served as a medic, and knows the value of close connection to family at such times.) The other is the new Japanese style bridge at the PEACE GARDEN by Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. This addition to one of the most visited parks in the city is a dynamic, functional symbol of a time when individuals and nations worldwide have learned to recycle wars into NON-VIOLENT CONFLICT RESOLUTION and LESSONS OF MASS INSTRUCTION.
